President Obama Should Listen to Some Better Voices

You might dismiss Keith Olbermann as a liberal, partisan operative. You might squirm as you watch him wallow in his own brand of snarky grenade throwing. But there's no denying it -- the man have a way with a Special Comment. Here he counsels President Obama to throw off the self-serving advice of his military advisors, reject the loaded demands of his opposition, and resist the (continued) escalation of war.

The President needs to listen to our better voices.

Fe...I caught that last night and agree. WHY?????? do we need to stick our noses in and bring more expense and death to the people of this country?

I agree. We need to get out of Afghanistan before we're bogged down there any further. Adding more troops is not the answer.

I love Keith Olberman and I don't get to hear him anymore because I went to basic satellite service and don't get MSNBC anymore. That being said, I listened to this whole clip while the blog's music played over it. It was a great distraction.

Obama just bought himself a war. I was born in the early 1950's and have watched one war after another my whole life.

Going back to Alexander, no one has been successful there. But I guess we are different. Yep.

I know Obama inherited a boatload of crap but I hoped that he would not continue fighting in this way. I was born in the early 1950's too and it seems that not much has changed in all these years.

Lorelei - I agree. I was reading about the speech today, and it seems that half of the people who support the war point to the fact that a weak Pakistan has nukes that Afghanistan can get their hands on, while the other half point to the humanitarian issues of oppressed women and children. We don't seem to care about the other countries that abuse their women and children, and we aren't rushing in to divest other shaky countries of nukes, so what is the true deal?

Janie - I think you are right. Someone was talking about Russia's experience in Afghanistan. Do we truly believe we will sweep in, stabilize the country and turn it over? Based on ...?

Greetings Sandra - You can go on msnbc's site and access videos of KO. We always think we will be in and out, and how often does THAT happen. Arrogance drives war, of course, but we always seem to think we come from a place of nobility. (Sigh)

Mountain Mama - Yes indeed. There is plenty of crap, but EVENTUALLY I have to wonder why we keep piling it on!
